Project Director for museum and ship collections restoration and re-organisation. 

2001 to 2003 Mary Rose Trust
Charles Payton contracted as Acting Chief Executive and Managing Project Consultant to the Mary Rose Trust, Portsmouth to complete the HLF fundedpublication of the archaeological record and to reorganise the Trust within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.1999 Batavia Werf, Netherlands
Responsible for a study for locating and contracting vessels to appear on visits to this famous traditional shipyard.

2000 Brest 2000
TideChaser British coordinator and manager for the British and US exhibitions; responsible for sponsorship, contracts, publicity and management of the entire British side of this festival.

1999 Dunkerque / Ramsgate Events Study
TideChaser responsible for the marketing, events, technical, tourism and financial study to promote linking maritime events between these two ports. TideChaser also assisted new management of the Ramsgate Power Boat Grand Prix.

1989 to 1992 Brest 92
British co-coordinator. Conceived, planned and organised the British presence at Brest 92 with exhibitions totalling 2500 sq.m. for Britain and 950 British vessels attending: responsible for sponsorship, contracts, publicity and management of the entire British side of this festival.

1998 London Docklands
Carried out a survey of maritime possibilities for events within larger study for British Waterways.

1997 to 1998 The International Festival of the Sea, Portsmouth 98
TideChaser held the contract for the Concept and Maritime management of the second festival which broke new ground in a venture combining the skills of commercial interests and sponsors with the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy - together with the heritage interests of the Royal Navy Dockyard and Flagship Portsmouth.

1992 to 1996 The International Festival of the Sea, Bristol 96
TideChaser was responsible for the original concept and planning of this, the first great maritime festival for the UK. It managed with Peter Workman the creation of the team to execute the festival. Charles Payton directed, co-ordinating all aspects with the sponsors Helical Bar plc. and the Cabot 500 Celebrations.

1987 to 1988 Douarnenez 88
Contracted to Le Chasse-Maree in France to organise, fund, transport and execute the British exhibitions and vessels attending this - the first great European maritime festival.

1984 St. Matthias Church, London
Led the co-ordination of interests to produce a permanent way forward in the successful restoration to modern useful space of St. Matthias, the former chapel of the Honourable East India Company at Poplar, London.

1984 to 2003 The Museum in Docklands, London
Charles Payton, founder member of the group to create the world's first major museum of dockland life. Served on the Board of Trustees of the body controlling the £28m HLF funded build of the new museum which was opened in 2003 by Her Majesty the Queen.
